Kindness Returned

Essie told me one day that we had to go to the dollar store and that she had to make a specific purchase there.  When we arrived she went straight for the garden stakes and picked out this hungry frog for the woman who lives below us because she 'knows she loves her garden'.  Our neighbour showed Essie that she had indeed placed it in the garden.

The Fun You'll Have

This is the windup for the shot that hit the poor guy right in the delicates.

P.S.  My sister has informed me that this is the vice principal.  Sorry, Mr V.P.!

Worm Whisperer

I don't know quite how she does it but Essie can find a worm to play with no matter the weather.  She must be part bird and know how to lure them up from underground.

Sweets

It's pretty nice to open a kitchen cabinet and find your favourite chocolate bar left there for you by a certain thoughtful someone.

Outdoor Creativity

Another of Essie's found object art installations.  A broken plastic tube, a rock and some foliage.  I try to take pictures of every little spontaneous outdoor art piece she does so I can make an album of them some day.

The White Patch

Lots Going On

I was trying to get a shot of these disgusting bugs.  They're not the most in-focus part but I ended up liking the reflections and the neat architectural detail I captured instead.

My apologies.  I've taken lots of photos and will catch up on the posting thereof.

Gift From Above

The clouds did this amazing thing tonight.  I was driving home from my mom's and had to keep stopping to take pictures.

Trainspotting

Waiting at the station for Andrew to arrive tonight a quite long freight train went through first.  I barely managed to get this shot of the big fronty bit.

She Didn't

Essie tried her two-wheeled scooter for the first time today.  It was a bit tricky and she wibbled and wobbled and fell down a few times, scraping her hands and banging her knees.  I realized though that every time she got back on she'd mutter to herself over and over, "I won't give up.  I won't give up."

Catching Rays

My Daughter

Recently when she sees something she likes Essie puts her hand up to her eye like a lens and takes a 'picture' for her memory.  Being a mom isn't always easy or fun but the amazing returns are in moments like these.

Möbius

Hello, Kent!

I hope we'll share some good times.

Goodbye, Clark

I've enjoyed our time together.

Oh the sun is a mass of incandescent gas...

The sun was shining so hard through this daffodil during Essie's walk to the bus stop this morning that we both had to stop and stare at it for a minute.

Dufferin Gardens

I've always been curious about this place, which is now a private residence but, though tucked away randomly in a quiet little neighbourhood, must have been something at some point.

(A quick search turned this up... )

Worm Days

Besides planting random objects Essie's other garden project is finding worms and draping the worms on the fence and on trees and elsewhere.  She thinks she's helping the worms find more options in life.  Today she put one in the apple tree so it could practice climbing.  I asked her if she thought it liked it and she said, "No, but he'll get used to it."

Julie

A portrait by one of her kindergarten students.

I'm becoming increasingly aware, incidentally, that I must not have a steady hand at all when shooting with a phone.
